The services we deliver are usually connected to providing and supporting facilities and equipment. We deliver these assets, guarantee their ongoing availability in line with the customer’s requirements, and undertake to do whatever is necessary to ensure these requirements are met.
This means that the risks associated with owning and/or operating the asset are transferred from the customer to VT. It also gives us an incentive to minimise costs while maintaining sufficient resources to meet our customer's requirements.
Examples
- VT is responsible for delivering more than 750 hours of programmes for the BBC every day. We use a network of our own transmission sites and those belonging to partner organisations to maintain 99.9% availability.
- Delivering assets within strict parameters for cost and timescales, such as completing construction and infrastructure projects for NASA at their Wallops Island facility in Virginia.
- Our contract to maintain the Metropolitan Police’s fleet of 3,600 vehicles requires us to ensure that no more than 280 vehicles are off the road at any time. With VT taking over responsibility for planning the maintenance and repair regime, the Met is able to concentrate on front-line policing.
- In Lewisham, payment for our Building Schools for the future contract is based on the delivery dates of the new schools, the availability of classrooms and the reliability of the ICT.
