Engineering-led

VT’s roots lie in shipbuilding. As we have acquired new businesses and employed new people, our engineering skills have broadened to incorporate other engineering disciplines, from construction to electronics.

Whatever the discipline though, the engineering mindset prevails. There’s a desire to solve problems; a practical approach to getting the job done; and a willingness to adopt new ideas once we know they will work.

Examples

  • By working with manufacturers, we’re installing radio transmitters that reduce energy consumption by 25%. The new transmitters, which broadcast programmes for the BBC and other customers from locations in Shropshire and Cumbria, will save over 1,900 tonnes of C02 per site.
  • At NASA’s Wallops Island facility, GA, VT maintains over 1 million square feet of buildings and associated plant and equipment
  • For the Metropolitan Police, VT provides over 500 hours of maintenance a day.
  • VT employs over 500 engineers in the nuclear industry , providing advice and solutions in the field of radiological detection, decommissioning and nuclear cleanup.
